Manuka Honey is produced by bees that gather nectar from the manuka shrub (Manuka), a plant that grows exclusively in New Zealand. The special aspect: during maturation the nectar’s dihydroxyacetone converts into methylglyoxal (MGO), a compound that to date has only been detected in the Manuka plant. The higher the MGO content, the higher the quality of the honey.
The amber-coloured honey is notable for its spicy, robust flavour and slightly viscous texture. Whether enjoyed straight from the spoon, used as a natural sweetener in tea or applied externally as an ingredient in a face mask, Manuka Honey is versatile.
