Manuka honey is produced by bees that collect nectar from the Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium), a plant that grows exclusively in New Zealand. What makes it special: during maturation the nectar’s dihydroxyacetone converts into methylglyoxal (MGO), a compound so far only found in the Manuka plant. The higher the MGO level, the more premium the honey.
This amber-coloured honey has a robust, spicy flavour and a slightly viscous texture. Enjoy it straight from the spoon, as a natural sweetener in tea, or topically as an ingredient in a face mask — Manuka honey is versatile.
