Active Ingredients

Manuka honey

Manuka honey is a premium honey from the New Zealand manuka bush with a particularly high methylglyoxal (MGO) content. We use Manuka honey with an MGO content of at least 500+. Can help to retain skin moisture and support the natural skin barrier.

Manuka honey (Mel) is produced exclusively by bees that collect the nectar of the wild manuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium) in New Zealand. In addition to natural sugars, it also contains enzymes, amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants. The characteristic feature is the high content of methylglyoxal (MGO), a naturally occurring substance that can vary greatly depending on the quality. We use Manuka honey with an MGO content of at least 500+.

Propolis

Propolis is the protective resin of bees with over 300 natural ingredients, including flavonoids and polyphenols. It is valued in cosmetics for its soothing properties and can help to care for sensitive skin and scalp.

Propolis (Propolis Cera/Propolis Extract) is a complex natural product that bees produce from resins of various plants, pollen and beeswax. The rich composition with flavonoids, polyphenols and other bioactive components makes propolis a valued ingredient in natural cosmetics. The ingredient can help to soothe irritations and support the natural balance. Important note: Do not use if you are allergic to bee products. Tolerance test recommended for sensitive skin.

Beeswax

Beeswax is a natural product of the honey bee that is produced for honeycomb construction. It is used in cosmetics to provide consistency and can help to protect the skin from moisture loss.

Beeswax is produced by honey bees to build their honeycombs and is obtained by melting and purifying. Cera Alba is the purified and bleached form of beeswax. In cosmetic products, it serves as a consistency agent and forms a light protective film on the skin. The wax is well tolerated and allows the skin to breathe without clogging the pores. It is particularly suitable for the care of dry and stressed skin.

Cocoa butter

Cocoa butter is a rich vegetable fat extracted from the seeds of the cocoa bean. It is valued in skin care for its intensive nourishing and moisturizing properties.

Cocoa butter (Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter) is extracted from fermented and roasted cocoa beans and is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants. The ingredient can help to intensively nourish the skin and keep it supple. Cocoa butter forms a protective layer on the skin that can reduce moisture loss. Particularly suitable for dry and stressed skin. Well tolerated and suitable for all skin types.

Shea butter

Shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the African shea tree and is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E. It can help to keep the skin supple, nourish it and protect it from drying out.

Shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii butter) comes from the fruit of the shea tree, which grows in the African savannah. The nuts are traditionally harvested by hand and gently processed. Shea butter consists mainly of oleic acid and stearic acid as well as natural vitamin E and allantoin. It has a soft, buttery consistency and melts at body temperature. Shea butter is suitable for all skin types and is particularly popular for dry skin.

Retinyl palmitate

Retinyl palmitate is a gentle, stable form of vitamin A that is gradually activated in the skin. Can help support natural skin regeneration and improve skin condition.

Retinyl palmitate belongs to the vitamin A family of retinoids. It is a particularly stable and well-tolerated form that is gradually converted into more active forms of vitamin A in the skin. Due to its mild properties, this ingredient is often used in cosmetic products. A tolerance test is recommended for very sensitive skin.

Rich, nourishing hand care with Manuka, propolis & vitamin A

Triple bee power for your hands

Our Manuka Repair Handcream combines Manuka honey, propolis extract and natural beeswax for an intensely nourishing and regenerating hand cream.

Manuka honey is the heart of the formula and is known for its special caring properties. It is complemented by propolis, the bees’ natural sealing resin. In the hive, propolis acts as a protective hygienic layer that shields the colony from external influences. Beeswax completes the trio of bee products and, as a natural thickening agent, ensures a smooth texture.

The rich base of shea butter and cocoa butter provides intensive hydration, while sweet almond oil nourishes the skin. Retinol (vitamin A) and vitamin E support skin regeneration, and aloe vera soothes stressed skin.

For cared-for, supple hands all day long.

Frequently asked questions

Here you'll find all the answers to the most important questions about application, effects and ingredients of the Manuka Handcream.

What is propolis?

Propolis (also called bee glue) is a firm, resinous substance made of various natural components. Bees use the propolis they produce to seal and protect their hive. For people, propolis also offers interesting benefits: it can be used in many ways to support the skin and your wellbeing. In our shop you’ll find propolis capsules, mouth spray, tinctures and soaps so you can experience the wonderful properties of this natural product for yourself!

What does MGO mean?

MGO stands for methylglyoxal and is present in high amounts in Manuka honey. This compound forms during the honey's maturation. The nectar of the Manuka plant contains dihydroxyacetone, which converts during maturation into methylglyoxal (MGO). To this day it is not known why this compound occurs only in the nectar of the Manuka plant.
Each individual Manuka honey can be traced back to the beekeeper by its MGO. Our Manuka honey is certified and tested with an MGO of 500+, our premium product from New Zealand.

Manuka honey with a content under 400 MGO is similar in composition and properties to ordinary blossom honey. We analyse our Manuka honey meticulously (see analysis certificate here)
