ABOUT ROYAL JELLY

Extraction of royal jelly

Royal jelly is the food juice of the queen bee and is mainly stored in the brood cells of the bees. In contrast to propolis, the extraction of royal jelly is somewhat more complicated and laborious. In order for the bees to produce the bee product, the queen bee is removed from the hive. The worker bees now begin to fill the brood cells with the royal jelly produced. The beekeeper gradually "sucks" this out of each brood cell and thus obtains the royal jelly. On average, a bee colony can produce up to 500 grams of royal jelly per year, which is reflected in the price of this bee product.

Fresh royal jelly

Fresh royal jelly is sticky and has a milky white color. The name comes from the English and means "royal jelly", the jelly of the queen bee. Fresh royal jelly (pure) is very versatile in its application. The bee product contains numerous vitamin groups (A, B, C, D and E), fatty acids, minerals, trace elements and amino acids. For a daily meal, it is recommended to add 1 - 2 grams (the tip of a knife) on an empty stomach to breakfast cereal, a bowl or a honey spread and consume for internal use.

Fresh royal jelly can also be used externally for skin care. Many major brands are increasingly using royal jelly in their anti-ageing collections. However, we recommend incorporating fresh royal jelly into your daily routine, for example by adding 1-2 grams to creams or serums, mixing well and then applying. Due to its ingredients, royal jelly is an important component of natural medicine. It can provide the skin with a beautiful film and elasticity.

Our fresh royal jelly is obtained from controlled organic beekeepers. We offer our customers royal jelly with a high , laboratory-tested 10-HDA content of 1.7%. During transportation from the supra-regional areas, it is always transported carefully and cool and stored in a cold chain.

Royal jelly - what does it consist of?

The composition of royal jelly consists of many chemical compounds. The largest part is water, which covers up to 70% of the composition, followed by up to 18% carbohydrates, lipids, proteins up to 18%, vitamin B group and many up to 28 different oligo-elements and minerals. The minerals and oligoelements include important trace elements. However, not every royal jelly contains this composition, so it is important to pay attention to the quality of the royal jelly, which can be visually recognized by the following characteristics :

  • Consistency: slightly viscous
  • Appearance: heterogeneous mass containing fine granules
  • Color: white to yellowish → the brighter and shinier, the fresher
  • Smell: slightly aromatic (fresh), intense (old)
  • Taste: astringent

The quality of royal jelly is affected by heat, light and air and can lead to a reduction in quality. The longer it is exposed to air, the darker the color becomes. Good royal jelly must be kept tightly sealed between 0°C and 4°C to maintain its quality.
