''WORLD BEE DAY''

Beekeepers for the well-being of bees

World Bee Day was introduced by the United Nations in 2017. May 20th of each year was declared World Bee Day to raise awareness of the importance of bees to our environment and food production. The introduction of World Bee Day followed a long campaign by beekeepers, environmentalists and other advocacy groups working to protect bees and other pollinators.

Hardworking farm animal

World Bee Day is important to raise awareness of the importance of bees for our environment and our food production. Bees are essential pollinators for many plant species and therefore play a crucial role in our ecosystem. World Bee Day provides an opportunity to draw attention to the threats facing bees worldwide, such as habitat loss and pesticide use. By raising awareness of the importance of bees and taking action to protect their habitats and food sources, we can help promote the protection and conservation of these important pollinators.

"Once the bee disappears from the earth, humans will only have four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more people."

(Albert Einstein)

What can we do?

World Bee Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of the threats bees face and to take action to protect their habitats and food sources. Everyone can help with a few simple points:

🐝 Bee-friendly plants - Plant flowering plants in your garden or on your balcony that are rich in nectar and pollen. Examples include lavender, sunflowers and wildflowers
🐝 Nesting sites - bees also need nesting sites in the form of bee hotels in your garden or on your balcony
🐝 Avoid pesticides - these can harm bees. Instead, use natural methods to control pests or choose pesticides that are safe for bees
🐝 Water trough - bees also get thirsty on warm days due to the long distances, provide a shallow water trough

From nature for you!
