Questions about the use of a propolis tincture
Propolis tincture is very versatile in its application and it is therefore not entirely clear, especially for laypeople, how and for what propolis tinctures can be used. We would like to answer the questions"What can I do with the propolis tincture","How do I use the propolis tincture correctly","Can I also use the tincture for my children","Is it possible to take propolis cures for animals" and many more with this blog, so that you are informed about the area of application with propolis for the time being.
The use of propolis can be supportive. The natural antioxidants it contains help to intercept and neutralize free radicals. This process helps to promote general wellbeing. We recommend regular use so that the antioxidants in propolis can be optimally absorbed by the body.
The bees mainly use propolis for their hive, which serves as their protection. The propolis is primarily applied to the opening of the entrance, where it acts as a kind of protective cover against bacteria, fungi and germs and therefore has special properties that are attributed to its polyphenol and flavonoid content (secondary plant substances).
What can I do with a propolis tincture?
You can use the tincture for internal and external use. It all depends on what your complaint is and how you can best dose the propolis for yourself.
When taking and using the tincture, a distinction is made between internal and external use.
An internal application option is, for example, in the form of a mouthwash with propolis. To do this, you can add a few drops of propolis to a glass of water and gargle. The properties contained in propolis can neutralize the oral flora and thus the bad breath . Another option is to add a few drops of propolis to your toothpaste and brush your teeth with it, which can promote oral and dental hygiene. For oral care, you can also drizzle a spoonful of honey with a few drops of propolis and let it melt in your mouth.
If you want to "spice up" your propolis powder/capsules (food supplement), you must wait until the tea is no longer hot. This is because the chemical compounds in propolis dissolve at high temperatures and therefore lose their effect.
The external application options mainly relate to supporting the skin. Depending on the complaint, the propolis can be applied to the targeted area. Here too, the recommendation should not be exceeded (see the label). Propolis drops can be applied specifically to areas of skin that are in particular need of care, for example dry or stressed areas. You can also use propolis as a nourishing part of your daily routine for skin that is prone to blemishes. You can also incorporate propolis into your daily skincare routine by adding a few drops of your propolis tincture to your cream and allowing it to absorb well into the skin.
If you want to use a kind of "propolis plaster", you can put a few drops of the propolis tincture on a plaster or a piece of cotton and then stick it to the intended area of skin. This prevents smearing.
It is important to note that when applying the propolis tincture, it is necessary to clarify beforehand whether you have any allergies to bees or bee products. We therefore recommend carrying out a small allergy test:
To do this, put a few drops of propolis on the inside of your wrist and wait for about half an hour. If there is no redness, irritation or itching after this time, you can probably use propolis for yourself. For pregnant women, it is recommended to use the alcohol-free variant, propolis with distilled water (Propolis tincture with pipette alcohol-free & water-soluble). Nevertheless, we recommend consulting your doctor if you are unsure or have any concerns. Pregnant women in particular should take it under medical supervision.
How do I use the propolis tincture correctly?
The dosage plays a major role here and should be correct (you can find recommendations on our products) so that an effect can be achieved. In general, the following rule of thumb is recommended:
1 drop of propolis per 10 kg body weight spread over 2 intervals
Example:
My weight is 60 kg, so I need 6 drops of propolis a day. I can divide this into 2 x 3 drops. I take my first portion before breakfast. It is not a problem to take the recommended daily amount at once.
What can I use propolis for?
Propolis is extremely versatile and can be integrated into your everyday life in various ways. In oral and dental care, you can use propolis as a mouthwash, combine it with your toothpaste or use a mouth spray. Propolis can also be wonderfully incorporated into your skincare routine, for example by adding a few drops to your cream or applying the drops to specific areas of skin that need a little extra care. Skin that is prone to blemishes in particular can benefit from propolis as a nourishing ingredient.
Propolis also contains valuable secondary plant substances such as polyphenols and flavonoids as well as natural antioxidants that can neutralize free radicals and thus contribute to general well-being. Incidentally, the bees themselves also use propolis as putty resin to protect their hive.
Can it be used on children and animals?
As mentioned above, you can use our alcohol-free tincture or our mouth spray for your children or animals (dog, cat, etc.) without any concerns. Just check beforehand whether you have a possible allergy to bees or bee products.
