Use of bee venom for spider veins
You're getting dressed and oh: what's that? You can see a small red vein on your leg. These are often so-called spider veins, which also appear as fine, net-like clusters, similar to brushwood veins. But what are spider veins, what causes them and how can you effectively prevent them?
In this article, I will tell you more about these supposed beauty blemishes and give you important tips for gentle treatment options.
SPIDER VEINS IN MEDICINE
Spider veins are small, dilated veins that show through the top layer of skin. They affect one in three people and can appear on various parts of the leg - whether on the thighs, the inside of the lower legs or the edges of the feet. Sometimes they even appear on the face or chest.
Spider veins should not be confused with varicose veins. These are larger, swollen veins that may require medical treatment.
Both forms are caused by venous insufficiency, but differ in size, depth and symptoms.
Causes: The development of spider veins
Spider veins are caused by a weakness in the vein walls, which leads to dilated, visible blood vessels. The causes of spider veins are varied and include both genetic and lifestyle factors.
Hormonal changes are another cause of spider veins, especially in women. Pregnancy, puberty and menopause are associated with hormonal fluctuations that can affect the connective tissue
Prevention of spider veins
Regardless of your genetic predisposition or hormonal causes, there are a few measures you can integrate into your everyday life to prevent spider veins.
- Regular exercise: Exercise activates the calf muscle pump, which has an important function in transporting blood back to the heart. Even short walks, climbing stairs instead of using elevators or regular foot exercises can have a positive effect.
- A balanced diet: A limited consumption of fat and meat can help to protect the blood vessels and thus reduce the risk of spider veins. It is also helpful to drink at least two liters of water or unsweetened tea a day.
- Alternating showers and massages: Alternating between warm and cold water promotes blood circulation and can therefore prevent the appearance of spider veins. Massages, primarily of the connective tissue, can also help to prevent spider veins by promoting blood circulation and strengthening the connective tissue.
In addition, compression stockings support blood circulation, while elevating the legs promotes venous return.
Excessive alcohol consumption should also be avoided, as it can lead to dilation of the blood vessels and thus promote the appearance of spider veins.
Treatment options for spider veins
There are a number of treatment options for spider veins, ranging from conservative measures to minimally invasive and surgical methods.
Sclerotherapy and laser therapy are among the most frequently used, non-risk-free procedures, both of which aim to close the dilated veins and allow the body to break them down.
Gentle treatment method: bee venom for spider veins
In addition to traditional medical procedures, there are gentler methods that can be used to treat spider veins.
The use of bee venom can provide natural support for spider veins. The function of bee venom was already examined in detail in a study in 2015. Both the individual ingredients, the chemical composition and the biological effect. The main component of bee venom (also known as apitoxin) is melittin, which can have an effect at various levels (e.g. cell membrane). The study found that the use of bee venom for 12 weeks significantly reduced visible veins.
At bedrop, we have used high doses of bee venom in Bee Cream, a bee venom ointment with 8 herbal extracts. The ointment can be applied to affected areas several times a day. When massaged in, the bee venom contained in Bee Cream triggers a natural reaction similar to that of a bee sting.
The targeted application of Bee Cream causes
- blood flow to the area
- a better supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin
This process offers natural support in the dissolution of spider veins and at the same time improves the appearance of the skin. In combination with the high-quality and 100% natural herbal extracts, Bee Cream provides natural cooling and a pleasant feeling on the skin.
