Summer at last, SUN BALM at last: our new lip balm with SPF 50+

For most of us, summer means warm sun on our skin, a day at the lake and long strolls through the city where we don't even realize how much UV radiation we're actually getting. Our lips in particular take a beating. They are constantly in use, constantly exposed to the sun and constantly in contact with water, wind and heat. No wonder they are often dry, rough or chapped at the end of a summer's day. And when we do apply sunscreen, our lips are often left with a white sheen or a sticky, greasy film that doesn't feel pleasant at all.

Does lip care really have to be so complicated in summer? We don't think so. And that's exactly why we developed our new SUN BALM. Why we so often underestimate sun care for the lips

When do you actually think about your lips when applying your sunscreen? Probably rarely, right? Face, shoulders, décolleté, even the ears are usually at the top of the list. But the lips? They are almost always left out. Yet they are one of the most sensitive areas of skin. With wafer-thin skin, no sebaceous glands and no UV protection of their own, they are particularly sensitive to the sun, heat and dry air.

And this is where it gets interesting. UV rays are much more than just the cause of sunburn. They penetrate deep into the skin and are one of the main factors when it comes to premature skin ageing. While UVB rays mainly irritate the upper layers of the skin and can lead to redness, UVA rays penetrate even deeper and damage the skin structure in the long term. This has a particularly rapid effect on the lips, which already have no protective shield of their own. Dryness, a feeling of tightness, fine lines and an overall exhausted appearance can be the result.

You often only notice this when it's already too late. When your lips become tight, rough or simply no longer look the way you actually feel after a day by the water or in the garden. What a shame, really. Because it doesn't have to get that far.

High protection that your lips really deserve

With sun protection factor 50+, SUN BALM offers a high level of protection against UVA and UVB rays and prevents UV-induced skin ageing of the lips. This is made possible by modern UV filters such as DHHB and ethylhexyl triazone, which have been specially developed for sensitive skin areas. They are complemented by mineral zinc oxide, which also gently soothes the lips.

Anti-ageing for the lips sounds like a big word at first. But we only want one thing for you: for your lips to feel just as smooth and nourished after a long summer as they do on a spring morning in May.

Bee power that pampers your lips

As befits a bedrop product, SUN BALM naturally also contains a piece of beehive. A tried-and-tested care base that has proven its worth in our lip care products for years and simply provides your lips with the best that the beehive has to offer. Our favorite active ingredients in SUN BALM:

🐝 Royal jelly, rich in proteins, vitamins and fats. A truly pampering ingredient for the skin on your lips.

🐝 Manuka honey MGO 500+, which provides intensive moisture and makes the skin feel soothed.

🐝 Beeswax, which wraps around the lips like a delicate protective film and seals in the care.

It also contains shea butter, sunflower oil and lanolin, a wonderful combination that keeps your lips soft and supple even after a long day in the sun. Pongamia oil and vitamin E are the little helpers at the end of the formula that give your lips additional protection. As with all our products, we have deliberately avoided the use of synthetic preservatives and parabens. Carefully formulated with ingredients from controlled organic cultivation. Just as we would want for ourselves.

A delicate rosé-nude shade that brings summer to the lips

If you're wondering whether SPF 50+ leaves a white shimmer on the lips, we can reassure you. That's exactly what we wanted to avoid at all costs. Sun protection products with mineral filters can quickly look pale or chalky on the skin and this is particularly unpleasant on the lips. That's why we developed the SUN BALM tinted right from the start.

We opted for a soft, slightly berry rosé-nude shade. A warm, muted rosé shimmer with a hint of dusky pink that blends naturally with every skin tone. Not a dense lipstick, more of a summery "I've been out today" glow that makes your lips look fresher and healthier without covering them up. A shade you can always wear when your lips just need a bit of color.

And then there's the scent. To be honest, this has become one of our favorite details of SUN BALM. A fine, almost gourmand vanilla note that is a little reminiscent of creamy summer ice cream and makes you smile briefly when you apply it. So delicious that you'll want to keep reapplying it all day long. Which is perfect, by the way, because you should regularly reapply sun protection during the day anyway, especially after eating, drinking or jumping into the water. So easy to use

To use, warm the SUN BALM briefly in your hand so that the care formula becomes nice and smooth. Then apply it to your lips either directly from the dispenser or with a clean finger and spread it evenly. A small pump is all you need. The dispenser is best stored at room temperature, protected from heat and cold.
