Your medicine cabinet with bedrop: it pays to be prepared

We've all been there: an acute need to treat injuries, cold symptoms or other ailments, but there's nothing at home. We know how important it is to have a well-stocked first-aid kit and would like to use this blog article to show you which must-haves belong in your first-aid kit - and which bee products from bedrop you can add to it. Let's go! 🐝
The fixed place of your bee medicine cabinet
The most important thing in a medicine cabinet is a fixed place in the home so that every member of the family knows exactly where to find everything in an emergency. Two thirds of all Germans keep their medicine cabinet either in the kitchen or in the bathroom - but these rooms are not actually suitable. Most products should be stored in a cool, dry and sometimes dark place, for example in a storeroom, hallway or bedroom. For this reason, you will find the note "Store in a cool, dry place" on our propolis tinctures. And very important: keep out of the reach of children!
Natural products and dressings should ideally be stored in a lockable cupboard or small case. Many households make the mistake of simply placing the products on the top shelf of a cupboard - but children love to climb and are curious. A lockable container is safer.
The contents of your (natural) medicine cabinet
So that you are well prepared in an emergency or for acute complaints, the following items should not be missing from your medicine cabinet:
Dressing material:
- Plasters
- Wound dressings
- Triangular cloth
- Gauze and gauze bandages
- Elastic bandages
- Leather finger cots
According to personal needs: Anything else you would like to add according to your personal needs and doctor's recommendation, for example for on the go or the first-aid kit - for example insect repellent, sun protection and personal products prescribed by a doctor.
Our bedrop supplements for your supplies:
Propolis: Propolis is traditionally valued in many households and has been an integral part of natural household supplies since ancient times. At bedrop you can get propolis in various forms - as a 20% tincture, as a 10% alcohol-free tincture (particularly popular for the whole family), as capsules and as a mouth spray. So you have the right variant to hand depending on your personal preference.
Manuka honey: Honey has had a special significance in many cultures for thousands of years and is a staple in many households. You can store our Manuka honey as a natural food in your stash so that it is always to hand.
Check your medicine cabinet regularly
Tidiness is the be-all and end-all in the household - and this is especially true for the medicine cabinet. It's worth keeping it tidy regularly so that you can access it quickly when you need it and don't have a mess. The best-before date (BBD) is crucial for many products. Propolis, royal jelly and Manuka honey generally have a best-before date of two years. For this reason, we deliberately offer smaller quantities in our bedrop store, which are used up quickly - so your bee products always stay fresh.
Important: Fresh royal jelly belongs in the fridge, together with other products that require refrigeration such as cooling pads. Make sure that you sort your medicine cabinet according to a fixed system and that there are no empty packaging or loose package inserts lying around.
We recommend re-sorting your medicine cabinet at least once a year - preferably every six months - and checking the best-before dates. Tip: Write the opening date directly on the products! It is best to create a small checklist that you work through regularly.
