Pollination refers to the transfer of pollen to the stigma of the flower's carpel. The male gametes are found in the pollen, which is formed in the stamens of the flower. A distinction is made between self-pollination and cross-pollination. In contrast to self-pollination, in cross-pollination the pollen comes from the flower of another, same plant. The bee serves as the carrier of the pollen. It pollinates (fertilizes) the plant.
